Dallas Dynamite Wrestling Club is a grassroots effort to help facilitate the growth of Texas wrestling by training committed wrestlers to reach their full potential domestically and internationally.
NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION
Dallas Dynamite is a 501c3 non-profit corporation. Our long term vision is to have our own wrestling facility located in Central Dallas.
This status also gives our members an opportunity to raise money for their club dues by receiving tax-deductible donations from local businesses and/or philanthropists.
BEGININGS
The Dallas Dynamite Wrestling Club began in March 2004 under the leadership of founders David Kjeldgaard, Ed Mosley, and Ty Wilcox. During the first season, the 26 members practiced twice a week at Jesuit College Preparatory in Dallas. The members of the inaugural season improved significantly encouraging the coaches to invest more time and effort into the Dallas wrestling community. Six seasons later, the membership for Dallas Dynamite now exceeds 100 wrestlers, and the coaching staff has nearly tripled in size. Dallas Dynamite now runs multiple clubs out of our centralized wrestling facility in Dallas.
COMMITMENT
As iron sharpens iron, we are committed to helping our wrestlers seek out top competition at local, regional and national events. In order to help our members put themselves on the recruiting radar, we encourage participation in out of town tournaments where coaches often travel with the team. In the past 5 seasons, we have accompanied our members to tournaments in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Florida (Brandon) and North Carolina (Greensboro). Looking forward, we expect a larger percentage of members to participate in these tournaments to better themselves athletically, educationally, and personally.
COACHING
Humbly, the Dallas Dynamite Coaching Staff has one of the best resumes in the country led by Head Coach Jamill Kelly (Silver Medalist - 2004 Freestyle Athens). In addition, Dallas Dynamite has 4 NCAA All Americans, 11 Cadet and Junior National Titles, and 13 High School State Titles on the coaching staff's resume.
PROVEN RESULTS
Our results speak for themselves. Over the past 5 years, wrestlers training with Dallas Dynamite have gone on to achieve great success in summer wrestling. Over 50 wrestlers won Freestyle or Greco-Roman State Titles, 9 became USA Wrestling Regional Champions, 12 became USA Wrestling All Americans including 5 National Champions. In our first year competing in the youth folkstyle season we had the most state champions (6) of any North Texas based wrestling club and tied for the most regional champions.
Former Dallas Dynamite wrestlers currently compete or plan to compete next season for Harvard University, Lehigh University, University of Pittsburgh, Arizona State, University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Dallas Dynamite staff is committed to helping all of their wrestlers who desire to compete in college, reach that goal. With the experience and relationships the Dallas Dynamite staff has built in the wrestling community, they have countless connections with college wrestling programs around the country. If Dallas Dynamite athletes desire to compete in college, these connections will allow the athletes the opportunity to find a program that fits their unique ability and personality.
Dallas Dynamite members have a large presence in Texas and across the nation. Many Dallas Dynamite members participate in Team Texas and compete in the National Wrestling Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota.
